I Had To Do It!

I had to textlax my edges today. I warmed the relaxer (top left picture) in the microwave for 1 minute (should have done it for 30 seconds - lesson learned). I waited until the mixture cooled, then squirted it on my edges only. I left it on for no more than 3 minutes. I didn't want completely straight edges, but I didn't want the beady beads I had.

I should have taken pictures before, but I wasn't thinking. I did part my hair so you can see the beady beads in the center (and the devastating breakage on the back left side). I refuse to cut my hair. I'm going to let the breakage catch up with the rest of the hair, then when the breakage reaches my shoulders, then cut the older hair the same length. That's my plan. I think I'm going to totally hold off textlaxing the rest of my hair, until I get some significant growth in the breakage areas (I am scheduled to textlax again on Oct 15th, according to my textlax calendar). As long as I keep my edges manageable, I think I can handle the different textures, since I'm not flat ironing my hair. Just water, conditioner, and my oil mixture (to seal)... and to keep doing the Aphogee 2 Step Treatment every six weeks.

Still Working On The Elastic Straps

I'm in the lab working on the elastic straps method for my LFs. If this works, it will change the LF industry. I really want to buy a 12 inch virgin malaysian or chinese virgin remy straight from Rex, so I can cut it (or have it cut) into the Stacey Dash cut:
This will be my professional at work look. I'm really feeling the bangs on Cindy Crawford's hair, and Kelly Rowland's hair also:
Maybe I can cut bangs into my virgin malaysian straight I still have.

I can't tell if the Aphogee 2 Step Treatment is working. I did it last Sunday, and my hair is still coming out, but not as much. I'm wondering how long does it take to kick in. The instructions says not to reapply it for another 6 weeks, so I'm going to leave well enough alone. I made a hair calendar that has when I should do the protein treatments, and when I should textlax. I'm determined to stick to it. Maybe I can soften up my new growth in between textlaxing. Speaking of textlaxing, I'm not due until November. I should have enough new growth by then. I may even carry it over into the new year. I've learned my lesson with being hair-bored. If I get bored again, I'll slap on a LF.

I've started my moisture regimen. I've been alternating every day between Mane N Tail Deep Moisture conditioner, Aussie Moist, Nexxus Humectress (the Sally's brand), Aphogee Pro Vitamin leave in conditioner, or Silk Elements Moisturizing Leave In Creme. After I rinse my hair, I put one of the before mentioned conditioners on, then I seal it with my homemade oil/glycerine mixture (glycerine, grapeseed, oil, jojoba oil, and Morrocan Argan oil). My hair has never been this soft! To be honest, I'd forgotten about the moisture/protein balance. I know for a fact that my hair came out because I left the relaxer in the back too long. No use in beating myself up about it. I'm just going to protect what I have left on my head, keep wearing my LFs, and move forward. I also bought the Aphogee Deep Moisture Shampoo, and maybe shampoo once every 2 weeks. I rinse everyday, so I shouldn't have that much build up. I really need to get rid of all the other conditioners I bought. I'm a product junkie, what can I say!

I just found out that this blog is one of the top 50 hair blogs: The Top 50 Hair Blogs. When I was told, I beamed proudly.

Color Update: Before - Ewww!/After - Ahhh!

It's on my head as I type this. I understand the chemistry involved. There is no way I could have colored my hair light brown. It would have turned green. It's looking like it's a purpley red. I left one little blonde curl out in the back, for fun. The color is still on it though. I'm a little panicky. I have 13 minutes to go...

^^Wet
I'm finished! I like it. I think it's going to be very close to the color on my hair goal picture. That purpley color was toning down the blonde. I miss the blonde. Once my hair grows out (in 2 years), I may put color remover on my ends so some of the blonde can come back. But until then, I'M DONE COLORING MY HAIR. I won't even text until next year, maybe February. I'm not even thinking about it. Lord knows I've done enough in the last 30 days. My curl pattern is still intact, albeit a little looser though. Right now, I'm deep conditioning under a plastic cap (aka curl bag) with a little Mega-Tek, a little Nexxus Humectress, and the new addition, Silk Elements Luxury Moisturizing Conditioner. I think I'm going to baggy all night. I don't feel like washing it out. I'm too tired. Long day. I still haven't opened my yarn bins yet. I love life!

Dry (11-10-2009)

I'm pretty sure the straight ends are from the weight of the curls, a different texture on the sides of my head, and the braiding. They will be cut off once my hair is at shoulder length. I LOVE THE COLOR, especially how it's lighter in the back.

I'm still using Mega-Tek and taking 2 GNC NourishHair caps and 1 B-Complex daily.
